Bridie Brassil

September 2012

THE BALLAD OF TIN CAN ANNIE, by Dowcha Puppets, was performed as part of the Samhlaíocht Easter Arts Festival at Siamsa Tíre Tralee. Audience consisted of 90 people a mix of parents and children.

The performance featured a well constructed and imaginative set, a great story line with a strong message on recycling which tied in with the theme for the festival, Planet Earth.

The special effects, which included a thunder storm soundtrack and mist/cloud coming up from the front of the set were used to great effect. These combined with lots of backdrop and lighting changes which helped to portray mood and atmosphere.

The puppets were well made and cleverly used as they came in two sizes.

Overall this was a very professional production which was well timed and executed. We would have no hesitations in recommending it to other festivals.
